Scholarship Program

Vocal Music Award Criteria

The awards are for the purpose of promoting the continuation of studies in vocal or choral music. The awards are presented to graduating high school seniors and will be publicized in July of this year. All applications shall be submitted through the student’s music teacher and/or counselor. Applications must be accompanied by recommendations from both those faculty members. The application(s) must be received by OC Friends of Music Selection Committee no later than April 30. (Unless otherwise advised). Student’s application shall include their musical experience to date, their musical aspirations for the future, as well as their reasons why they believe they should receive the award.

There will be no limitations nor restrictions on the class of individuals who are eligible recipients based on race or employment status of the applicant or relative of the applicant. Applicants will be limited to those students who have all shown by their interest and involvement in the musical program(s) of their respective high school as well as by their expressed commitment to enroll in a college course in the pursuit of a musical career, that they fulfill the purpose of the awards.

As these awards are a one-time gift to each recipient, proof of enrollment in a college is required from each applicant at the time of a scheduled personal interview with the selection committee. The in-person interview constitutes our only activity in supervising the gifts to assure that the award is used for the purpose intended.

The award amount is $500.00.
